Jotwai — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 15 August 2026

This policy is published in English and Thai. Both versions describe the same practices; the Thai version begins at นโยบายความเป็นส่วนตัว.

In short

Jotwai is a Markdown editor that runs on your own computer or phone. Your notes stay on your device. We do not have a copy of them, and there is no account to create.

We collect no usage data of any kind — no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting. The app does not even know who you are: it never asks Google for your name or email address.

There are exactly three cases where anything leaves your device, and you can see all three below.

1. Who we are

Jotwai is published by:

iA Group Co., Ltd. Bangkok, Thailand jotwai@iagroupcompany.com

For the purposes of the Personal Data Protection Act B.E. 2562 (PDPA), iA Group Co., Ltd. is the Data Controller for the limited personal data described in section 5.

2. What the app stores on your device

Everything below is written to a folder on your own device and is never transmitted to us:

What Where Why
Your notes and documents Wherever you chose to save them They are your files
Open tabs and unsaved work App data folder So the app reopens where you left off
Settings (theme, font, preferences) App data folder To remember your choices
Google authorisation tokens App data folder So you don't have to sign in repeatedly (only if you connect Drive — see section 3)
Sync bookkeeping App data folder To know which files were already synchronised

You can delete all of it by uninstalling the app and removing its data folder. Deleting it does not touch your notes, because your notes were never in there.

We have no access to any of this. There is no server holding a copy.

3. Google Drive sync — optional, and off unless you turn it on

If you choose to connect Google Drive, your notes are copied to your own Google Drive account, not to us. We operate no sync server and never receive your files.

We request one permission only: drive.file. This is the narrowest Drive permission Google offers. It grants access only to files the app itself creates or that you explicitly open with it. The app cannot see, list, or read anything else in your Drive.

We do not request your name or email address. The app asks Google for no profile information at all, so we could not identify you from the app even if we wanted to. What is stored on your device is an authorisation token and its expiry time — nothing that names you.

Your use of Google Drive is also governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You can revoke the app's access at any time from your Google Account permissions page, which takes effect immediately and independently of anything we do.

Jotwai's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

4. Automatic updates

To tell you when a new version is available, the app periodically asks our server which version is current. That request necessarily reveals your IP address and the version you are running, as any request over the internet does.

We use this only to serve the file. We do not build profiles from it, and we do not combine it with anything else.

5. The website

The app and the website are separate. The website collects personal data in one case only:

If you enter your email address to be notified when the mobile version is released, we store that address for that single purpose.

To be removed, email jotwai@iagroupcompany.com and we will delete it.

6. What we do not do

We think this list matters as much as the one above:

The complete list of internet addresses the app is capable of contacting is: accounts.google.com, oauth2.googleapis.com, www.googleapis.com (all three only when you use Drive sync), and our own update server (section 4).

7. Your rights under the PDPA

If you are in Thailand, you have the right to:

In practice the only personal data we hold about anyone is a waitlist email address (section 5), so most requests will be answered simply by confirming whether we have your address and deleting it.

To exercise any of these rights, email jotwai@iagroupcompany.com. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Security

Waitlist email addresses are stored on infrastructure protected by access control and encryption in transit (HTTPS). Because we hold so little, the impact of any incident is correspondingly small — the strongest protection for your notes is that we never had them.

9. Children

Jotwai is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

10. International transfer

The website and update server are operated on cloud infrastructure that may process requests outside Thailand. This applies only to the data described in sections 4 and 5. Your notes are never transferred anywhere, because they never leave your device.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If a change meaningfully affects how personal data is handled, we will say so on the website rather than change the text quietly.
